How often should I wash my bra?

It honestly depends on how much you sweat, your level of activity and how long your day is. If you are lounging around at your home office, you are more likely to get away by wearing the same bra for a day or two. Versus, a full work day at the office with a lot of running round, you would only be able to wear it once for that day. Also remember to rotate your bras. This ensures the straps and the cups ‘relax’ and go back to its natural state. So go with what feels natural!

How should I wash my bra?

The age old question, do bras need to be hand washed? In order to improve your bras longevity, yes, hand washing is recommended – but girl, nobody got time for that! So here are some pro-tips is you are like us, who needs to save the additional 20 mins of hand washing.

  • Air-dry indoors. – Sri Lanka has summer year round and the scorching sun can really do a number on your bras. We suggest letting them air dry on a towel indoors and maybe letting them sit in the sun for an hour max to really ensure all the moisture has evaporated. If your bra is ‘crispy’, girl, you’ve overdone it!
  • Avoid laundry softer. –They may smell like heaven, but laundry softer can damage the elasticity of the synthetic fibers in your bras, underwear and sportswear.
  • Pre-Soak your intimates. –This is a great way to kick start the wash process. A presoak with be able to soften any dead skin and oils in your bra. Just toss them in a bowl or water and allow them to sit over night or a few hours before using the washing machine.
  • Use the laundry bag. – Laundry bags are small mesh bags with zips that can be bought online or at your local super market. They ensure that your bras and undies don’t get entangled and stretched with the other clothes in the wash. This is a must!
  • Pre-Hook your bras. – Our number one tip! Does your bra grab hold of everything but the kitchen sink with their tiny little hooks? Girl, we’ve been there! Bras need to be pre-hooked before being washed, this cuts down entangling and overstretching when they are in the washing machine. Always, always, always, hook your bras before washing.
